Frontier High School, which distributed celebratory yard signs to about 80 seniors on May 21, has recognized two outstanding seniors for their academic achievements: HOT Scholarship winner Joshua George and Lois Neece Overcomers Award-winner Trinity Robles.
George, who began attending Frontier in 2019, is described by teachers as hard-working, dedicated and highly self-motivated. He plans to attend Rio Hondo College and pursue several cyber-security certifications and transfer to UC Irvine, where he will major in computer science.
Robles, who had lagged on graduation credits and was unmotivated to attend school, turned her life around and is on target to graduate. She aspires to be a social worker or nurse.
Graduations have been postponed until late July to give seniors time to make up any classes necessary during summer school and allow extra time for public health restrictions to be eased.
The school will distribute caps and gowns in July. The signs were sponsored by the Whittier Union High School District Educational Foundation.
